I was casting about looking for something way outside of anything I’d created before and stumbled across pictures of crocheted skulls. They looked intriguing so after staring at several pictures of them, I dove in and started crocheting.
Essentially, you chain to create a figure eight, then do a single crochet around that figure eight, create the top, circle around and create the bottom. It’s done in single crochet, except for the teeth.
Each skull was about three and a half inches long, so I made twenty of them and joined them together into a scarf. But they needed something more. So I looked at various patterns for crocheted flowers and made twenty flowers in two shades of red and attached them to the skulls. The result was a pretty spiffy scarf that I gave to a friend who I knew would really appreciate it.
The yarn was Caron Simply Soft and the hook H/5mm.
