This is another project that was inspired by the yarn. I was buying yarn for another project, when I saw bins of Red Heart Ombre yarns. A friend at work loved the colour turquoise and was a big fan of scarves, so I snagged one in Deep Teal. I pondered what to make while working on other projects and then stumbled across the perfect pattern on this site:
It’s a delightful website with both written and video tutorials. The pattern I chose was her Pommin’ Around cowl. I did it in the round rather than do it as a long strip and stitch it together. And because the yarn was variegated, I didn’t feel the need to do this back loop only to add additional texture.
And this is another stitch with an unflattering name. It’s actually better looking than this photo suggests, but it’s called the grit stitch. Seriously – who comes up with these names?
I cut it REALLY close with the yarn on this one. As you can see by this picture, there’s less than three feet of yarn left. So yes – one Red Heart Ombre will make this scarf. I made this with a J/6mm hook.
