A shawl, slipper socks and hats – oh my!

I’ve worked on several projects lately, so I’m dumping them all in this post.

First, I made a variation on that shawl I had already done three versions of – the Secret Paths Shawl.  My co-worker Susan liked the look of it so much she asked me to make one for her.  I made a couple of changes to it, so it wouldn’t be so matchy-matchy with the other three:

Then I made a series of slipper socks.  My first pair was for a good friend who does movie reviews on Facebook.  She uses slipper socks as the rating – a particularly good movie will merit five slipper socks.  So crocheting her a pair seemed fairly imperative.  I used this pattern:

Here are Elizabeth’s:

I liked the results so much I made a couple more pair for some co-workers and have another couple planned.

Then I made three granny square stitch beanies for another friend.  But for the life of me I can’t find the pattern now.  And did I take a photo of any of them?  No, I did not.

The last thing I made was a top hat – because who doesn’t want a crochet top hat?  I used this as the base pattern:

I wanted the top edge to be crisper, so after finishing the crown, I turned it and crocheted on the back loop only.  Also, I gave it a wider crown, to give it that Mad Hatter je ne sais quoi.  And instead of doing one row and slip-stitching it at the end, I did it as a continuous round, so that the ends of each row wouldn’t be so obvious.    The result:

I did use Red Heart SuperSaver yarn for the hat, but for the band I used Caron Simply Soft in Ocean, using a 4.5mm hook.
