I hadn’t really planned on doing a fifth iteration of this scarf, but there I was, crocheting it yet again. This time, it was for the wife of a co-worker who I had worked fairly closely with. I really appreciated his willingness and ability to go into the weeds on various projects and wanted to make something for his wife, since he didn’t strike me as someone would would wear anything made from yarn, no matter how stylish. I had met his wife once and seen their vacation pictures, so I had some idea of what would work for her., which happened to be the Secret Paths scarf. Jeff suggested blue, to match her eyes.
I must admit that I have only done the edging recommended in the pattern once. Every other iteration has had a different edge on it, and this was no exception. Since I did this scarf using a 4.5mm hook rather than a 4.0mm one, the recommended edging wouldn’t work so well, so I replaced it with a row of v-stitch, then fans with picots in-between. I used Hobbii Twirls Deluxe yarn. The 4.5mm hook allowed the scarf to drape more and yes, even with doing four sets plus the edging, I still had a bit of yarn left over. I decided against tassels, though – Barbara didn’t seem to be a tassels kind of gal.
