You wouldn’t know it from this blog, but I’m a fairly prolific crocheter. That’s primarily because I only post new things I’ve done here. There’s no reason to mention the additional times I’ve created something because I wanted another one in a different colour or a friend saw what I had just made and complimented it enough that I got the hint. But under all of these projects was a much longer-term project.
I’ve mentioned previously here that I lost my house and all of my possessions in a wildfire. My co-workers very kindly created a GoFundMe account for me, which helped enormously during those first few months. Once I was able to catch my breath after almost two years of hell, I pondered briefly about what to do to repay their kindness, and then my better sense kicked in and I started to crochet. I had to make more than a hundred items, which meant that they couldn’t be anything like, say, a sweater. After a bit more pondering, I came up with this list:
- Light mesh triangle scarves (with tassels)
- Hats
- F-bombs
- Mini skull fake plant hangers
After a year and a half of crocheting in my very small bits of spare time, I’m finally done! They are being shipped out this week.
