I’ve been doing a lot of repetitive projects lately, mainly replacing items I lost in the fire (hats, scarves, etc.). But recently, I was asked to do something unique for a friend. As with many things, this request was made after someone saw an amusing Facebook post: a pair of shark slippers. So I had to make these.
The website that I got these from seems to be down right now, but if you search for “crochet shark socks” or “crochet shark slippers”, you will get a plethora of patterns. One thing of note: the ones with tails are anatomically incorrect; the tails are horizontal, rather than vertical, giving a shark a dolphin’s tail. I corrected this by adding a fin shape on the toe of the slipper. But unlike the other fins, which were made with two layers (to be three-dimensional), I made them with just one layer, so they’ll fold over if the wearer sticks their toes under anything, rather than hang up or jam.
These were made with a 3.5 millimeter hook and Red Heart Super Saver yarn in white and grey heather.
